Quickbase REST API • Schema Lesson

Quickbase Schema Explorer

Use this page to inspect how Quickbase describes an application table, its fields, and its relationships through the REST API.

What you are learning: this page is not reading record data. It is reading the structure of your Quickbase application.
1

Confirm the application

The Code Page identifies the current Quickbase app from the URL, then asks the REST API for the list of tables inside that app.

App DBID Unknown
Selected Table None

The table list loads automatically when this page opens. Use Refresh Tables only if the application schema changes while the page is open.

2

Choose one table to inspect

Every schema request below uses the DBID of the table selected here.

Each option shows the table name followed by its Quickbase DBID.

3

Inspect one part of the table schema

These three requests let you examine the schema in smaller pieces before combining everything into one snapshot.

Table metadata

See properties of the selected table itself, including its name, DBID, key field, aliases, and table-level settings.

Field schema

See every field definition Quickbase returns for the selected table, including Field IDs and field types.

Relationship schema

See relationships involving the selected table and identify the parent and child table DBIDs.

4

Build the complete schema snapshot

After inspecting each piece separately, combine the table metadata, fields, and relationships into one JSON document.

What happens when you click this button?

The page sends three REST requests: one for the table, one for its fields, and one for its relationships. The responses are then combined into a single teaching-friendly schema snapshot.

Ready. Waiting for a schema request.

API Response

This is the JSON returned by Quickbase, or the combined JSON created by the Full Schema Snapshot action.
